Pia Putz is a mundane and the ex-girlfriend of Dug Smith, now wife of Edsel Frank. Her marriage to Edsel was on the rocks at one point. She was a diabetic until after an adventure in Xanth. The same adventure saved her marriage. Dug had bought Pia a ring as a gift. One night she stayed up late with Dug, making her parents angry. Because of this, she decided to break up with him, and sent him a letter, returning the ring he had given to her.
