In 40 ABY, the galaxy was in turmoil. When Commenor and Bothawui aided the Five Worlds in breaking the Blockade of Corellia, the galaxy fell into open civil war. Five Worlds General Tarvin Calaan however, who had joined the Five Worlds to help them gain their independence, was opposed to full scale war. Over the course of the past weeks, Calaan had become disillussioned with the Five Worlds when he realized that they were not seeking a quick solution to the war. After Five Worlds Prime Minister Dur Gejjin attempted to have Tenel Ka Djo of Hapes and ex-Admiral Wedge Antilles, who was a good friend of Calaan, assasinated, Calaan decided to abandon the Five Worlds. During the breaking of the Blockade, he refused to fire on a damaged Galactic Alliance frigate, and was relieved of his command.
