In Final Fantasy XI, there are a number of songs referred to as a Carole. All of these songs have a similar effect. Their only difference is the element they protect against. Whereas Threnody decreases the resistance of enemies versus a particular element, a Carole will increase the resistance of allied party members. This means that the effect of Fire Carole is much like the effect of Barfira, which is the White Mage equivalent. Both of those effects stack on top of one another and offer mostly damage resistance versus direct damage Black Magic or abilities like Bomb Toss that do non-magical elemental damage.
