Kortus was a regular army sergeant during the Scanran War. Along with Sergeant Aufrec, Kortus and his squad served with Lord Wyldon at Fort Giantkiller and then at Fort Mastiff before being permanently assigned to Haven in May 460 HE, in response to Keladry of Mindelan's request for more troops to defend the camp. He was killed with a cut across his torso when the refugees were taken by Stenmun in June.
