Just as Koashura was going to give her a birthday present, Koenma abruptly jumps in and breaks it, handing Kotennyo a bouqet before the two left crying Koashura behind, who sworn to get revenge against Koenma. It is hinted in the manga that Koenma may be in love with Ayame, but in the anime he shows no interest in her. This may be debatable because he is still in love with Kotennyo, however the movie itself is not canon to the series.
