Confusion about the actual existance of Picardin has Ampelographers looking for the individual variety growers refer to as Picardin. Samples taken typically turn out to be Clairette or Bourbelenc. Notwithstanding, it is recognized as a separate varietal in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
