Satis was the previous winner of the Great Race of Ōban 10,000 years ago, but although the prize was his he had to fight Canaletto to give up his position. Even with the powers of the Avatar, Satis was not strong enough to destroy Canaletto, so instead he neutralized his power and imprisoned him in a cell at the bottom of the Flying Temple.
