Cas-ny-Hawin was a station on the old Mid Sodor Railway. After Stanley was turned into a pumping engine, he was used to pump out water from the mines. He broke down in 1946, and as a result the mine flooded and was abandoned in December that year. With no further reason to continue running, the Mid Sodor Railway closed down in January the following year.
