Plataia (sometimes called Gargaphia) was a naiad-nymph and the daughter of Asopos & Metope. She was taken by Zeus who desired her. Zeus took her to a town on top of Mt. Kithairon in Boiotia. Zeus would name the town after her. She would become the naiad of the freshwater springs. It is unknown if she ever bore Zeus a child.
