The term "fan-chise" was coined by Michelle Hendricks, who plays Valerie Lupia on Tales of the Seventh Fleet, to refer to fan-based productions of professional television and movie franchises, such as Star Trek: USS Hathaway, Starship Exeter, et cetera. See also: Fanon.
