The Vicar officiated at the funeral of Dennis Stringer at St. Mary's Church in January 2002. Among the congregation was a group of Dennis's biker friends led by his old pal Buster. The vicar introduced Toyah Battersby who gave a reading from Corinthians, Chapter 13, and Dennis's girlfriend Janice whose own speech was interrupted by an unexpected but heartfelt intervention by Les, her estranged husband, who felt responsible for Dennis's death as he was killed in a car crash on his way to Weatherfield General, taking Les there after a failed suicide attempt.
