Rempel grew up in Manitoba and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Manitoba. She worked as Director of the University of Calgary’s Institutional Programs Division prior to her election. In 2010 she was named one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women in the "Future Leaders" category by the Women's Executive Network. She previously served as president of the Conservative Party riding executive for the riding of Calgary—Nose Hill.
