Doangivadam (pronounced "Don' give a damn") is a character in Mark Twain's posthumously published novella No.44, The Mysterious Stranger. In the story, Doangivadam lives in Austria during the Middle Ages and is known for doing and caring for the underdog in bad situations. He is physically strong and very clever, and uses these abilities to help those in need. When Twain died in 1910, he left three unfinished versions of the story, which were heavily edited by his literary executor Albert Bigelow Paine and combined to form The Mysterious Stranger, first printed in 1916.
