The 1980 National 500 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on October 5, 1980. Dale Earnhardt won his fifth and final race of the year, leading 148 of the 334 laps in route to a 1.8-second victory on Cale Yarborough. Earnhardt and Yarborough were also 1-2 in the points, with Earnhardt ahead of Yarborough by 115 points.
