In 1900 PD, Suchon held the rank of Lieutenant Commander and served as chief medical officer aboard the light cruiser HMS Fearless. She preferred to sit at her desk and let her subordinates do most of her work in sickbay, a fact that quickly came to Commander Honor Harrington's attention after she took over command. She informed Suchon that she herself was the child of two physicians, and knew full well what the duties of a ship's surgeon were.
