The movie was not rated by the Motion Picture Association of America on its release. The British Board of Film Classification have given it a 12A certificate (meaning that children under 12 cannot watch it at a movie theater unless they are accompanied by an adult) for moderate horror, violence and language. An American remake of the film, Diabolique, was released in 1995.
