Lieutenant Jim Peart was a Starfleet officer who was assigned to the USS Enterprise-E in the 2370s. Peart's quarters were at deck six, section four. In 2378, after earning the trust and respect of Security Chief Christine Vale, Peart was assigned as second-in-command of security by Commander Riker. In 2379 he was commander of the Sierra team to Tezwa's Kolidos Desert. (TNG novel: A Time to Kill) Jim Peart led the boarding team which secured the freighter Venezia after its impounding by the Enterprise.
