The forward-accelerating fragmentation/navigation rover (FAFNR) is a type of Kel-Morian mine tunnel borer. Constructed from seemingly incompatible components, it is driven (either manually or piloted) forward on spike treads. For mining operations, six laser drills mounted on the FAFNR's front remove the rock, which is directed through side intakes to the rear. A separate bucket and convener system follow behind in the resulting tunnel and remove the debris.
