In 23 ABY, the Wookiee Jedi trainee Lowbacca discovered such a device in the Great Temple on the moon Yavin 4 while scavenging for a crystal to use in building his lightsaber. The projection system had been left there by Rebel technicians during the war against the Galactic Empire.
