Tholus is a planet, located in the Tholus star system, somewhere in the space of the Alpha or Beta Quadrants of the galaxy. Tholus was where the First Federation maintained a contact facility in order to expedite diplomatic relations with the Federation. (TOS - Fortunes of War novel: Dreadnought!)
