The subclass Lissamphibia includes all recent amphibians and means smooth amphibia. Extant amphibians fall into one of three orders — the Anura (frogs and toads), the Caudata or Urodela (salamanders and newts), and the Gymnophiona or Apoda (the limbless caecilians).
