On 27 September 2008 Rovers faced Crewe Alexandra in a League One match at the Memorial Stadium. The game ended in stalemate, with both sides failing to find the back of the net, the first time in the 2008-09 season that Rovers had not scored. Ryan Green and Steve Elliott both had to leave the game during the first half through injury.
