Velma Hardesty was a resident of Grantville. A divorcee, Velma was married to a Joe Lang and sired her son Cory Joe Lang. In her second failed marriage, she successfully won over a custody battle against her second ex-husband Carney Logsden over their children. After the Ring of Fire, Velma lost Carney Logsden back in the original timeline. The loss of Carney took a toll on her which drove her into a pessimistic and depressive state. She began dating other men, but she routinely sabotaged these relationships. Her lifestyle soon hanged in the balance of endangering her youngest daughters, Susan and Tina.
