The 1962 Gwyn Staley 400 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at North Wilkesboro Speedway on April 15, 1962. Richard Petty led 142 of the 400 laps in route to a four-carlength victory over Fred Lorenzen, Petty's first victory of the year. Eventual season champ Joe Weatherly finished 8th. Stats
