The NCIS Office of Special Projects is a branch of NCIS, stationed in Los Angeles, which is dedicated to more covert operations than most of NCIS. The branch is so secretive that for security reasons, it doesn't officially exist while those who work there are presumably required to use cover stories to maintain the unit's secrecy. After it was revealed that The Chameleon's death had been staged, Henrietta Lange returned to her original position.
