Abner Layson was a Manticoran citizen and an officer of the Royal Manticoran Navy. Holding the rank of Commander, he served as executive officer of the heavy cruiser HMS War Maiden. He replaced Lieutenant Elvis Santino as Officer Candidate Training Officer after hearing of the way the Lieutenant treated his midshipmen. (HHA3.1: MMH)
