A multiplayer online game is a multiplayer video game which can be played via a game server over the internet, with other players around the world. Some prominent examples of this include fighting games such as Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs. Capcom 3, sports games such as NBA 2K11, strategy video games such as Warcraft 3 and StarCraft, older online games such as the Sega Meganet titles, and particularly first-person shooters such as Battlefield 2, Halo 3, Counter-Strike, Quake 3, Team Fortress 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops.
