Luca Tarpan was a Jacksonian criminal whose activities on Barrayar attracted the attention of Imperial Auditor Miles Vorkosigan. As part of his effort to flee the planet, he arranged for Miles's then-fiancee Ekaterin Vorsoisson to receive a poisoned pearl necklace and nearly managed to kill her.
