Manaan was a planet inhabited by the indigenous Selkath. The ocean floor contained kolto, a healing substance eventually replaced by bacta. During the Jedi Civil War, the Jedi Revan and a group of followers traveled to Manaan and discovered a star map that gave them partial coordinates to a Sith superweapon called the Star Forge. Thousands of years later, shortly before the Stark Hyperspace War, Jedi Master Jard Dooku and Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi investigated Selkath claims that the Trade Federation shipping cartel was illegally mining kolto from the ocean, but the claims were never verified.
