In 1956 the car was a relatively standard 1932 Ford Coupe until it was bought 16-year old Clarence "Chilli" Catallo for $75. Over the next couple of years he customised it, turning it into a hot rod and part-time drag racer. In the late '50s he changed his mind and it becxame a "classic custom show rod".
