This was the highest points total in the league that season, netting the Rangers the Presidents' Trophy. In the playoffs, they defeated their cross-river rivals, the New Jersey Devils, in seven games in the Division Semi-finals before falling to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins in six games in the Division Finals. __TOC__
