Yasuki Masashi was a member of the Yasuki family prior to their exile from the Crane Clan and joining the Crab Clan. He had died in the 3rd century, and Masashi returned through Oblivion's Gate in the 12th century to discover this, and in 1138 he approached the Yasuki Daimyo Yasuki Oguri and demanded the Yasuki once again join the Crane. When Oguri refused Masashi challenged the daimyo to a duel, but Oguri refused this too. Masashi could not kill Oguri without martyring him to the Crab Yasuki, so he left intent on developing another plan. Masashi had a score of Crane samurai following him at the time, led by Meihu.
