Hungry Lumas are seen in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. They ask the player for a certain number of Star Bits (and/or coins in Super Mario Galaxy 2) . If the player feeds the required number of star bits to the Luma it will turn into a planet, or even a galaxy. They always leave behind a pink Launch Star after transformed (with the exception of the Hungry Luma in the Sea Silde Galaxy, as the Shrinking tile planet it transformed into is accessible by cannon.). In Super Mario Galaxy, they can be found on the Comet Observatory and different galaxies. In Super Mario Galaxy 2 Hungry Lumas hungry for Coins appear, along with the one hungry for Star Bits.
