Karen Gaines, mother of kidnapping/murder victim Jodie Gaines, shot suspect Nick Capetti to death in a courtroom, even though she ordered her kidnapping. She did not intend for her to die but she was willing to do anything to spite her ex-husband, especially since his condescending nature of her caused her to develop an addiction to pain pills. As Nick was being arraigned, Karen pulled out a gun she smuggled in and fatally shot him three times in the courtroom.
