Caroline Addyman (also Kershaw) is the mother of Katie Sugden. Caroline married Brian Addyman and they had a daughter. They separated at some point afterwards and Brian raised Katie. In June 2002 Katie goes to stay with Caroline after discovering that she is pregnant and boyfriend Andy asks her to have an abortion, despite them planning the pregnancy. Katie suffers a miscarraige and returns to stay with Brian. Katie and Andy reconcile and they get engaged. Caroline returns for Katie and Andy's wedding in 2004.
