The Scandinavian Union is a multinational organization in Scandinavia comprising of Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark and Finland. Founded initially as a defense union against British forces stationed in Norway in 1952, it evolved in 1956 into a passport union and later a full trade union. The Scandinavian Union represents the Scandinavian states within the European Economic Community and has internal mechanisms separate from the broader continental organization.
