Captain Johnson and his Troupe were a variety act who were booked by Dennis Tanner to appear at a charity concert for the Over 60's Club‏‎ held in the Glad Tidings Mission Hall in March 1962. Unfortunately, their van's big end went on the way across the moors from Huddersfield and the Captain had to cancel. However he was able to send on Bunny and Sherry, his two performing sea lions, but as the other main act, some ex-strippers called The Blue Streak Rockets, had been banned by the Mission Watch Committee headed by Joe Baxter at Ena Sharples's request, the concert had to be abandoned anyway.
