The Senate Medal of Honor was the highest military decoration of the Galactic Empire, awarded for exceptional accomplishments and bravery on the field of battle. It was typically presented by the Emperor himself, "In the name of the Imperial Senate"; after his death, this function was instead performed by the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Forces. Perhaps the most prestigious battlefield decoration in Galactic history, the Medal of Honor was awarded to less than 11,000 soldiers (not counting arbitrary awards by the various Imperial Warlords) before the Empire's absorption into the Galactic Alliance, after which it was abolished as being a reminder of the Galactic Civil War.
