I hope he's not going to talk because we're all so into our food. And then he talks. "Hope all of you are enjoying your prey." He says. Little cats acknowledge him as many are finishing their prey and sneaking bites from their neighbors. "Let us discuss some important lessons," Forester prompts. "Does anybody know the backstory of this war? As in what caused it?" Linsay raises her paw and Forester nods. "MidnightClan attacked Cordial Valley." "Why?" Forester tips his head. "Because they're mean!" Forester blinks. "No," he says slowly. "does anybody know the real story?" Nobody speaks. Forester sighs. "Well, I suppose it's storytelling time." He drags a moss cover to the center and sits on it. "Wonder how good that old tom cat is at stories?" Darion whispers and Rosetta nudges him. "Keep quiet!" She hisses, her worried eyes on Forester but the tom doesn't acknowledge either of them. Instead, he closes his eyes. After a few moments, he begins speaking. "70 moons ago, two brothers were born. One was peaceful and friendly. The other was vicious and arrogant. They had a loving family and plenty of friends in Plum District. 20 moons later, one brother decided that he had had enough with peaceful life and wanted one with more adventure; he remembered the tales of four Clans and decided to make his own, MidnightClan. He took on the name Midnightstar." I blink in surprise, finished with my squirrel-which was simply amazing, not to mention ahem-but I had only been told that the war had started far too long ago, generations before my parents.
