| - This is a beginner guide to provide new Lords and help old Lords with a few questions that they have in mind. First with the basic: (in progress)
- First, just know what you are playing. This is a browser strategy game. It's slow, it takes time, it isn't meant to be played in big continuous amount of time. You set stuff to build, send your heroes to do some missions. Log off, do something else. Check back once in a while and set more orders. Time is always running. It takes time to accumulate the resources needed to build your castle. Heroes are the center of your economy and of your military power as well. Any stat skill and any military skill combination are good and you should select depending on your preference. Vitality (also known as leadership), strength and agility both improve your hero and give bonus to your troops. Wisdom (also known as intelligence) improve the reward from some of the missions that your hero can do, particularly, it improves the amount of lumbers cut, the experience gained in training and your search ability. You start with a castle (more like a starting village really) and a good hero. It gives some basic income. You'd want to build up some silver mines and some fields to improve your income. Once you find your building time taking longer than you like, start to build up your town halls level. Get your hero to lumber for some extra resource or you can go into the market and buy some equipment and send him adventuring for experience. Once you feel that the building time is reasonable, start up a tavern to attract more heroes. You can also build a stable and level a blacksmith and research the appropriate technology (forging tech and horse raising tech). It'll enable you to start forging equipments and raise horses. The training and forging time might be very long at the start. You need to raise your building's level to decrease the construction time. All of this is pretty much taught in the first part of the novice quest that also gives some pretty nice resources for a starting castle. Lumbers become a bottleneck pretty fast because it relies on using heroes to get lumbers. Try to recruit more heroes with good WIS to improve the flow of lumbers. Forging equipment and raising horses and selling it to the market can also bring some extra gold income. Selling food is another way. Foods are required to train units and to attack. If you don't plan to do so right away, you can sell it for extra income and just buy it back when needed. Attacking and winning battle will net you 50% of the occupied castle's income for 12 hours or in other words, 6 full hours of income from the occupied castle. Castles you've conquered in the last 12 hours are shown in the territory overview. Battles are automated by the game, the strategy part is to make your formation and try to counter the opponent's formation. As an attacker, try to scout the opponent out and figure what kind of troop he use and what kind of defense building he has. Take advantage of the unit bonus damage against some kind of unit. Pikemens are strong against cavalry that into turn crush hoplites who destroy archers who beat the pikemens. To win or to increase your probability of winning, you need to invest in unit technology, to improve your troop's level, use a formation that have a significant advantage against theirs and improve your hero's stats. Also, in battle, the top number is your hp and the lower number is the unit's id which will allow you to distinguish what unit did what when you review your battle report. Assign specific purpose to heroes and try to have as many as you can. Research the technology "hero congregation" to increase your team of heroes. Recruit heroes with high wisdom to be full time lumberjacks or for search missions. Try to recruit color named heroes. Their name font will be colored and they have experience bonus when leveling their stats. Purple are the best, green comes second and blue are still better than black named heroes. Also, sometime, there's hero who come with skills. As skills are pretty hard to gets, those heroes are very valuable. Increase your tavern level to increase the odd of gaining better heroes. Use the market often. Sell your resources for gold and then buy what you need. For example, there's no use to stockpile plenty of foods if you are still in beginner's protection. Sell the food and improve your economy first. When you feel ready to make troop, just buy it back from the market.
