He started his first work on a film set in the 1980s with appearances in the television series Miami Vice and as photo double for Andy Garcia in the action thriller Clinton and Nadine (1988). Further film work includes supporting and featured roles in the science fiction comedy Coneheads (1993, with Cameron), Oliver Stone's drama Nixon (1995), the television drama Indictment: The McMartin Trial (1995, with Valerie Wildman, James Cromwell, Bob Clendenin, Gregg Daniel, Castulo Guerra, Mary Mara, and Miriam Flynn), the comedy For Better or Worse (1995, starring Jason Alexander), the science fiction film Space Marines (1996, with John Pyper-Ferguson, Edward Laurence Albert, Meg Foster, and Michael Bailey Smith), the science fiction film Contact (1997), the crime thriller The General's Daughter (1999), and Steven Spielberg's drama Catch Me if You Can (2002). Television appearances include series such as General Hospital and Designing Women. He was also a principal cast member in Hollywood's longest running play "Welcome Home Soldier". Beside his occupation as background actor, photo double and stand-in, Haney has also experiences as director, writer, producer, editor, and in the grip department. A few years ago, Haney founded the Palm Beach Acting School in Florida and is working as instructor there.
