The "Sewing Circle" was the informal name given to a group of high school students consisting of David Bartley, Sarah Wendell, and the twins Brent and Trent Partow, and backed by David's grandmother Delia Higgins. The name arose -- and stuck -- because their first project, and the one which made their fortunes, was developing a way of producing and marketing treadle-powered sewing machines.
