The Militaires Sans Frontières passed through Selva de la Leche during the Peace Walker Incident in 1974, while attempting to track down the AI lab headed by Dr. Strangelove. MSF commander Naked Snake first travelled there by mule, but the animal escaped when the Chrysalis AI weapon nearly spotted them, after which he continued on foot to Catarata de la Muerte. Several MSF members diverted from Snake's path to destroy a roadblock so that he could easily return to the area. Snake did so when he was forced to track down a CIA mercenary in possession of an ID card, in order to gain access to the AI lab.

The MSF later returned to Selva de la Leche to track down the KGB agent Vladimir Zadornov, after he had escaped from Mother Base's brig. After recovering Zadornov, the latter expressed irritation that he had been close to successfully escaping as Big Boss reported in that he got him. They also committed various operations in the area, including a stealth operation, a sweep operation, and the extraction of a researcher who had defected from Peace Sentinel.
