Sharon Elliott was the storyteller on Radio Weatherfield who read out the prize-winning entries in the station's short story competition. The first entry she read was A Night to Forget by Mavis Riley and Victor Pendlebury but they only listened to the purple prose for a couple of minutes before switching off as their enjoyment was spoiled by sarcastic interjections from a highly-amused Len and Rita Fairclough. Credited as "Storyteller", the character's name was given by the station's radio announcer.
