Following the discovery of the Bajoran wormhole, Bajor sent several science probes into the Gamma Quadrant. In 2370, one probe sent back data from a planet designated as L-S VI which recorded DNA patterns much like Odo's. Doctor Mora Pol saw the probe's data and made preparations to visit the planet.
