Pataki was Lord of the Sida and old friend of Sezu of the Acoma. He and Sezu had spoken of a possible alliance from time to time between their houses. By the time of the Riftwar, he had two grandsons. He was present on Almecho's birthday celebration in the Minwanabi estate, where he met Mara, his friend's daughter. He tried to encourage her by saying that she must know that only Jingu, her enemy, would take action against her life. He also commented that the Warlord has little love for Jingu and should he fail, he would be obliged to take his life.
