"Ride of the Valkyries", known as "Walkürenritt" in its original German, is an excerpt from the opera The Valkyrie, or Die Walküre in German, by Richard Wagner. It is one of Wagner's best-known pieces. In the Japanese version of Yu-Gi-Oh! (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters) when Zigfried von Schroeder uses his "Valkyrie" monsters, "Ride of the Valkyries" is often played. The card "Ride of the Valkyries" is named after this piece. In the Japanese version, the card is called "Walkuren Ritt" (Walkuren Ritt, Warukyūren Ritto) after the piece's German name.
