Synopsis
  • Meanwhile, at the Crazy Horse Casino, Shunka informs Red Crow of an incident in one of the hotel rooms. Red Crow goes up to the room to find Mr. Brass eating brunch. , who has been sent to the reservation by the Hmong criminal organization to protect its investment and make sure things are running well, insults Red Crow and his people and reminds Red Crow why Mr. Brass is there. On the bed of Mr. Brass' room lay two dead bodies, which Mr. Brass asks Red Crow to have cleaned up as he leaves the room.
  • Three weeks into the future, Chief Lincoln Red Crow sits in a car alone with a leather pouch resting on the passenger seat. He looks at the pouch, says "I'm sorry," and walks into the Badlands Cafe holding a handgun. Four shots are heard and we flash back to the present.
  • That night at the fair, Griff apologizes to Poor Bear for running away from him. Poor Bear forgives his friend and offers to buy funnel cakes for his friend and family. Elsewhere at the fair, Red Crow meets with Granny Poor Bear. Granny sits with a leather pouch called a soul bundle. Granny tells Red Crow that this soul bundle is Gina Bad Horse's soul. She reminds Red Crow that a soul bundle must be kept for a year before the soul is released. The person who keeps the bundle must live a harmonious life, with no fighting or arguing, to purify the soul before its release. If a harmonious life is not lived while holding a soul bundle, the soul is doomed to wander the Earth forever, lost and alone. Granny charges Red Crow with keeping Gina's soul bundle. Red Crow disagrees, saying that her son, Dashiel Bad Horse should be the one to keep the bundle. Granny says no, tells Red Crow that he is Gina's last chance and leaves the bundle with him.
  • Dino Poor Bear has finally arrived at his destination , a house with a vicious guard dog chained to a post out front. A skinhead bearing Aryan neo nazi tatoos comes out of the house and Poor Bear tells him he has a delivery from a cop. Impressed by Poor Bear's demeanor and the fact that he rode a bicycle from the reservation, the man gives Poor Bear $200 and tells him that if he is interested in earning some real money, to come and see him. Poor Bear pockets the cash and rides away on his bicycle.
  • Dino Poor Bear and his friend, Griff, are joyriding in Dino's convertible. The two boys are pulled over by the police for speeding. As it turns out, these two cops are corrupt and they blackmail Poor Bear and Griff into delivering a package to Nebraska for them. On their way to Nebraska, the car breaks down. While Poor Bear is examining the source of the problem, Griff runs away, leaving Poor Bear to complete the task on his own.
quotation
  • Your people are undisciplined, Red Crow. Grossly so. They run deals behind your back. Trafficking narcotics. Selling guns. Your organization lacks structure. And that manner of chaos will inevitably lead to just the sorts of problems that my employer wishes to avoid.
