Giles Darcy is a conman and was an old friend of Eric Pollard's. Under the pseudonym "William Knowles", Giles successfully sold stolen knock-off antiques to an oblivious Rodney Blackstock. Rodney stores them in daughter Nicola and her husband Jimmy's house, but Nicola decides she'd had enough of the antiques taking up space in her living room. However, when taking them outside, she is spotted and arrested by an undercover officer, but when Rodney reveals the antiques are his, he is arrested instead. Eric realises that Giles must be behind this, and tells him he's willing to get back into the antique business and would like to talk to him.
