The history of this island nation is both one of horrible suffering and of hope and tranquility. Years ago Admiral William Nautalis set out to create a nation based on his own ideals and free from what he considered tyrannical reign of his former homeland. However, the newly found power was too much for the Admiral who became corrupt and violent toward his followers. For many years the commoners of Nautalis were tormented and forced into manual labor (building ships and furnishing the Admirals lavish home). When Admiral William died, and his son's reign commenced, the people of Nautalis saw a gleam of hope that change for the better was soon to come. • The history of this island nation is both one of horrible suffering and of hope and tranquility. These hopes were swept away when Admiral William Nautalis Jr. proved to be just as much of a tyrant as his father. And, so it went for many years unchanged, until at last one who could free the oppressed peoples of Nautalis from their miserable existences. That man, was Captain Joseph Nautalis. Son of the admiral. As a youth, he befriended the commoners, much to the his father's disliking, and was able to truly see the misery that they were forced to live in. He vowed that the Nautalis' reign of terror would end with his father. Once he took power, he abolished the title of Admiral as it carried with it a ominous and foreboding history. He instead asked the people to vote their minds and let them decide who should rule the nation. After a long deliberation the people decided that Captain Joseph Nautalis, their great liberator, should remain in power. Some 10 years later, and the people's of Nautalis (renamed The Most Serene Republic of Nautalis) are thriving and happy. The economy is on the uprise and people enjoy many civil and political freedoms. The nation still has a very powerful Navy due to the overbuilding of ships and weapons of war, which are now historical monuments to what the nation has come from, but can still prove a formidable force if the need arises.
